On My Own is the best non-profit in town and it goes above and beyond the call of duty helping people with disabilities to strive for their independence. They also offer great classes online and in person to teach individuals with disabilities how to cook, do laundry, and live independently. On My Own is involved in the community and takes action to help others in need. I am happy to give a “shout-out” to an amazing nonprofit in our community. They are an amazing organization.

Growing up with a sister who suffered from autism I was always sensitive and caring torwards young adults with disabilities. It wasn’t until decades later I have found massive fulfillment in helping On My Own makes progress torwards their dream of helping young adults with disabilities gain independence. Volunteering is a blast and the relationships are priceless!”

“Growing up in school I always saw how the students with disabilities were picked on. After I joined Best Buddies I realized that they were some of the happiest and most loving people I had ever met. After high school I found On My Own and for the last 2 years during colledge I have been volunteering and helping their students learn how to be independent! Every week I look forward to our trainings, it doesn’t even feel like volunteering!”

“When I donated to On My Own I felt a sense of assurance that I have never felt when donating before. Often times with big organizations you don’t really know where you money went and with On My Own that is not the case! With just $1,200 we were able to help train 38 students for a full weekend on basic independent living skills! So cool!”

“After meeting Kristi and Eduardo it was decided! On My Own was going to be my non profit of choice for my birthday fundraiser! I was so happy to see that the $650 raised for On My Own went to an event to help teach the students how to swim! Thankful that I could help!”

“I’ve been a special education teacher for 16 years and I feel very blessed to spend my free time volunteering as a job coach with the great students at On My Own. I have a group of students who I help teach to cook, clean, and exercise weekly! I have no doubt that On My Own will change thousands of lives across the country and I am proud to be a small part in a big mission!”

“For the last decade I have watched my students graduate and be left alone without the skills to gain independence. Now my teaching is all about independent living skills and my students love our trainings at On My Own! Every week I find myself making incredible relationships, teaching life changing skills, and having face cramps because of the smiles!”

OnMyOwn – With the patience and vision of a Saint, Kristi Messer and her team of coaches have created a non-profit mission that serves the needs of individuals with disabilities by giving them the training, self-esteem, and confidence to obtain abilities necessary to become highly functional individuals and gain their independence in the world. Having worked with the clients and coaches of “OnMyOwn” as volunteers serving community outreach programs, I can attest to the loving care and professionalism shown by both. In my opinion, this program is a tremendous success and should be financially supported by our philanthropic community and eventually duplicated many times over.

Our Agency has been very blessed to have met Kristi and her On My Own team she has put together to help others. I do not know what to say, but she has taken on a role that is huge, to support a group of adults with disabilities who she does not know and supply daily food and joy to many. We really met her at the On My Own Valentine’s day dance where she and her wonderful group put on a celebration for everybody and it went up hill from there. In collaboration with Trinity Church of Delray, ON My Own has supplied meals to about 20 – 40 people every day……all kinds of food, fruit, desserts and anything you could think of. These have helped the current staff that are working around the clock to keep our vulnerable adults happy as they are all stuck home and bored. The staff have certainly appreciated it as it took some burden off of them as they cook continuously throughout the day to keep up with the daily demands of everybody. Kristi and On My Own have so much to offer, and this is an organization to be proud to donate to. Their staff are very well organized and I just cannot say enough good things about this wonderful group. Coastal Living wants to thank her and On My Own for all their loving donations and love that went with all these meals that were provided.
